Have had our 8 day roadtrip around the South Island...did 2000 kms in that time and saw some gorgeous places. Unfortunately the weather wasn't fabulous all the time but got some great shots. Also know the place I really want to revisit in Winter! Queenstown and the surrounding areas were just stunning! We went from Christchurch to Wanaka, Queenstown, Invercargill, Bluff, Dunedin, Otago peninsula and back to christchurch...and all the gorgeous little places in between. Will be starting some new paintings fromn the trip this week...can't wait.

In the meantime I am working hard on my pieces for the artshow in Wellington. Have 4 completed and several underway...hope to have another 4 to take with me, including my new ones from the SI.

Just booked my ticket for an 8 day roadie round the bottom third of the South Island....not until the end of summer but still very excited about it. Love seeing parts of our country I've never been to before and the South Island is just so spectacular! Anyway, closer to home....the gallery is looking fabulous with new artworks from my very talented bunch.

I've been on a couple of short roadies now the weather is starting to behave! Port Jackson in the Coromandel with my artist mate Libby McColl had us both estatic with the stunning scenery and old sheds. I have at least 10 paintings out of that trip....got some amazing pics! Can't wait to get started on a couple of those. Up to Waipu and Langs beach last weekend...love Northland. Had the most amazing pizza at the Pizza barn in Waipu....highly recommend!

Have a few paintings coming up to completion and several halfway through so hopefully will have a couple more to add to my for sale section soon. Just sold Anchor Bay and Little Barrier with 10% donated to TOSSI (the wildlife sanctuary up there).  Just love the work they do for our native plants and animals.

You are more than welcome to come and visit me at the gallery...1044 Coatesville-Riverhead highway (opp Riverhead dairy) open Wed-Sun from 11-5pm.

Finished my largest commission to date last week which was 2m wide x 1m high. Absolutely loved doing it so have just put the first coat on another one that size today. Will be a couple of weeks between sky coats before I can really get stuck into it. So exciting and scary.

Have a few 1500 x 750 ones on the go too...seems every few years my paintings have jumped up in size. They are all very summery paintings...can feel the change in season coming and can't wait to blow the dust off my camera and get back out in the world...with running the gallery from wed to sun I hope I get some great weather on Mondays and Tuesdays!

The gallery is looking fabulous with great paintings, prints, ceramics, glass, cards and cushion covers from my awesome artists. My new website for the gallery is nearly completed with an online shopping option so will keep you posted about that. Come in and visit me at 1044 Coatesville-Riverhead Highway (opp Riverhead dairy) or ph 0272278450 to view by appointment.

Had an amazing time at the NZ Artshow in Wellington almost selling out of artwork. Busy times in the gallery with two commissions to do and getting some more stock. Brought lots of new pieces back up country with me for the gallery, so it's looking amazing. A very inspiring place to work in.

We are having a wine and cheese evening on the 16th July from 5-7pm (normal gallery hours Wed-Sun from 11-5pm) so would love to see you.

Had a fabulous trip down from Auckland, amazing weather for taking pics. Already know what my next painting is going to be!

All set up at the artshow and waiting for the opening in a couple of hours. I'm in the same spot I was the first time I had a single artists wall...looking forward to getting to know the artists around me and catching up with my old mates! Come and see me if you are in Wellington. Hoping to secure some awesome artwork for the gallery too.

Yay...it has finally happened! Half of the hard work is done and the gallery is now open. It looks beautiful with artworks by Amber Emm, Ingrid Boot, Bruce Ferguson and Helen Parsons to name a few! I also have gorgeous hand blown glass by Rebecca Heap and lovely ceramics by multiple artists.

I am now working madly on the last couple of pieces to take to my artist wall at the NZ Artshow in June so life is pretty full on but that doesn't mean I don't have time to stop and chat if you want to come and visit me at the gallery! Would love to see you...I'm at 1044 Coatesville-Riverhead Highway (opposite the Riverhead dairy) and openign hours are Wed-Sun from 11-5pm or by appointment...ph 027 2278450.

My studio has been relocated into the kitchen for the past month or so while we get the garage ready for an open studio/gallery. Not too far to go now and I can't wait to get back out there and create! Not so many paintings going to exhibitions this year as they will now be in the gallery. However, I have just entered two into the Royal Easter show art awards. I will also be supporting Hibiscus hospice at the Estuary in June and have my artist wall in Wellington in July. I love the whole atmosphere of the NZ artshow so already excited about that.

Hope to be open by mid-April so will keep you posted.

Getting the last things organised for the NZ art show in Wellington this coming weekend.

Really enjoying my time in the studio, with beautiful warm weather streaming in the door. Have had a pretty busy time over November and December finishing works for the "People, places & pigment" exhibition at Oxford Gallery from 8th Feb-15th March

Had an amazing road trip to the Taranaki driving from Auckland with another artist and meeting two local artists down there.

Pleased the weather has warmed up a bit and I'm back in my studio instead of in the lounge! Plenty of space to spread out and get into gear for my solo exhibition at Terrace Downs in October. Some different sized works for me, enjoying the challenge of some smaller pieces as well as my larger ones. About to start a couple of old fishing boats in Westport which I'm really looking forward to! Makes me miss being out on the ocean though.

Was delighted to get some sample copies of the 2014 NZ Art calendar which has my painting of "Motutapu driftwood" in it and on the cover of the desktop version. These will be available at most major stationary stores throughout the country.

With two weeks of painting time left before the Wellington art show things are pretty hectic around here. Would love to finish another four but realistically looking at two! Have a varied selection of North Island and South Island paintings to take so pretty happy. If anyone is in Wellington  on July 26-28th come and see me at the TSB bank arena on the waterfront. My 4th year with a single artist wall and I can't wait!

Have been pretty busy painting lately with only a trip up the East Coast from Napier to Auckland on Jeremys boat to break it up. Had beautiful weather thankfully and it was pretty cool to see the rugged and fairly isolated East Cape from the sea. Out of sight of land for most of the trip though.

All paintings finished for The Original Art Sale on this weekend in Manukau, Hibiscus hospice fundraising exhibition at The Estuary in Orewa over Queens birthday and just working on the last one for Artex in Napier next month.

It was a very pleasant surprise to find my Coastal pohutukawa painting had won a merit at this years Easter Show Art Awards.

Have started 4 new canvases this week, 3 of which are great Barrier scenes. The other is a white-baiting spot on the West Coast of the South Island....don't worry, I can't remember the name of the place so won't be giving any whitebait location secrets away. It was quite well off the beaten track and a great find for a painting.

Life has been pretty hectic lately trying to take advantage of all this sunshine. Visiting friends and a photo taking trip to Matai Bay (have always wanted to get there!), game fishing out of Tutukaka and a weekend at the Barrier staying at the stunning Medlands view beachhouse with Dads friends Bob and Lyn Cawson, has ensured I have enough material to keep me going through the winter. Bob and Lyn are fabulous hosts and with Lyn being a keen photographer we got some great shots...www.medlandsview.co.nz. They also educated me in the joys of a good Chardonnay! Time to knuckle down in the studio and get some works finished. Just completing two for the Easter Show art awards. The theme for this year is NZ in colour which suits me down to the ground!

22, Feb, 2013

Have just finished a painting of Mangawhai, the last one to go in the Northcote college art exhibition on 1st-3rd March. Will have four pieces in total.

I am also doing a solo exhibition at Terrace Downs in Christchurch during October where I will have predominantly South Island works from my campervan trip.  Hoping to tie in another trip through the central SI at the same time.

Have all paintings finished for my exhibition with Bruce Ferguson at Matakana Art & Design. Opening is 16th Feb.
27, Dec, 2012

Heading up to Snells beach to drop off three paintings for the Great summer art expo. Really hoping for some sunshine for a change, so I can get some pics while I'm there. Exhibition runs from 28th Dec-3rd Jan 2013.

Was delighted to be awarded the "Judges encouragement award" for Tidal pools at Ti point at the exhibition, and also to sell two of three works.

Was very excited to discover my artwork in 2013 Contemporary art calendar for the third year in a row!
26, Oct, 2012

We arrived in Christchurch Tuesday afternoon (very sad to see the city post earthquake).

Collected our campervan and set off for Banks Peninsula. Weather forecast not looking good but woke up to the sun shining to my delight! Loved the boatsheds, they are one of my first paintings! Did the scenic tour back with one rather hair-raising road but got some great shots. Onto Kaikoura, seals, breath-taking scenery and whitebait fritters for lunch! Looked like a break in the weather so over to the West Coast via a very snowy Lewis pass...wild dramatic landscape and lots of cool shacks! One snap happy artist! Loved every minute of travelling around absorbing the sights. Hokitika to Westport to watch the rugby! A quick look at Granity where my great-great grandfather was born! Through Bullers gorge and over the Takaka hill to sunny Golden Bay. Ran out of time for a good explore up there...but I will return!

Back to work today and fully inspired by the mindblowingly beautiful South Island. Can't wait to get back there again for more exploring.. next times will be the middle third and the bottom with Stewart Island. Better let the bank balance recover a bit first though! Starting four new paintings tomorrow when I pick up my canvases. Yay!!!

09, Sep, 2012

Have moved out of my lounge and back into the studio now the weather is a bit warmer. Nice to have some space again. Have just finished a piece for the Rodney district art awards which is on this weekend the 14th-16th September, at the Old Masonic Lodge in Warkworth. Hoping to get two finished for the Waitakere Art awards in October.

Also planning to do my road trip from Christchurch to Auckland at the end of October....want to get to Akaroa and Banks Peninsula, Kaikoura and Golden Bay....can't wait. Just hope the sun shines for me!! Love getting out and about in our beautiful country!

06, Aug, 2012

Just returned from a fabulous 5 days in Wellington...sold six paintings, organized two exhibitions and caught up with my arty buddies and some old and new owners of my paintings! Ate fabulous food and enjoyed a wine or two!

Looking forward to getting back into the studio and planning whats next!!

24, Jun, 2012

After 3 relaxing days in Napier and checking out the NZ Art Expo back to reality and painting 7 days a week getting ready for the NZ Art show in Wellington. Have revised my total of paintings to take with me from 20 to 16 as some seem to have grown in size, so taking longer to paint! Still have 6 to finish but looking like I might make it!

Can't wait to get there...love the whole experience. Come and say hello to me on my stand if you are in Wellington the first weekend of August.

02, Jun, 2012

Last two days of the hospice exhibition at The Estuary in Orewa. Enjoyed the opening night, auction of donated works was a great success and a great collection of artwork to look at. Vicki Lambert does a very good job of organizing this fundraiser for hibiscus hospice. I've got three works in again this year.

17, May, 2012
Have three pieces in the Baradene Art Show this weekend. Looking forward to viewing all the artworks at the opening night. Exhibition is on from the 18th-20th May...details on website www.baradeneartshow.co.nz.
15, Apr, 2012

Stoked I have been accepted for a solo artists wall in Wellington for the NZ art sale at the beginning of August. This will be my third year and I love the entire experience. Living and talking art with the public and other artists over the three days is amazing. Not to mention all the great food and places to eat in Wellington. Hoping to have 20 pieces to take so I will be spending a lot of my next three months in the studio. Which fortunately, is one of my favourite places!

10, Apr, 2012

Not much of an Easter break for me!! Currently getting pieces ready for three exhibitions plus the big one in Wellington at the end of July. Next one is Baradene college in May...should have some new works to put up very soon!

Loving this weather though...might have to do a quick Northland road trip next week if it carries on!

Was very happy to hear the 5000 xmas cards of my pohutukawa painting printed for Save the Children fund had sold out and another reprint done. Will hopefully be doing more cards in the future.
10, Mar, 2012

I have three originals and several prints for sale in the Art in the Woolshed exhibition at Tawharanui from the 10th-18th March. I love Tawaharanui, it is probably my most painted beach and I recently hiked all around the headland. I am very happy to be supporting the great work TOSSI do protecting our native species.

25, Jan, 2012

Have four pieces in the mARTakana hospice exhibition at the Matakana School Hall this Auckland anniversary weekend. The exhibition is on Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday morning if anyone is heading up that way. Sounds like there will be lots of great art work with proceeds going to a fabulous cause.

I'm dropping my work off then spending the day at Goat Island, taking pics and snorkeling...yay. Making the most of summer and the last week of school hols before they both disappear.

17, Jan, 2012

In the week before Xmas, Dad and I headed to Motutapu. In hindsight, a great move given the weather that was to follow. Northland trip had to be postponed, so I was very happy I had snapped away at the abundance of flowering pohutukawa on both islands, as by the time the weather came right, it was no longer around! Also got some great pics of the baches on Rangitoto and stunning scenery on Motutapu, that will become paintings in the next couple of months. Many thanks to Jason from the MOEC who picked us up and dropped us off at the wharf, very friendly and a wealth of knowledge.

Was very pleased to hear that I won the peoples choice award at Gallery Q for the 2011 small pieces exhibition. The artwork, of an old corrugated iron shed out by Bethells beach, has gone to it's new home in the UK.

Today, the 11/11/11, was just too beautiful to spend in the studio, so Mum and I took a road trip out to Piha to soak up some sun, get some inspiration and some new material to paint. Blue skies, good visability and well formed waves filled all my expectations.

The gallery down there was great too with Mum purchasing my Xmas pressie...yay...thanks Mum. Anyway, might get some Piha paintings started soon, although I should finish the other 16 or so I've got underway first.
